Apple Releases iOS 12.0.1 with Fixes for iPhone XS and more

Apple iOS 12 for iPhone and iPad

Today Apple has released a minor iOS 12 update for iPhone and iPad. In what is the first update for iOS 12. And the first since the release of the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

The update, while small, contains five important fixes that have been reported by users. Perhaps most importantly, it fixes an issue that prevented some users from being able to immediately charge their iPhone XS.

Fixes in this release include:

  • Fixes an issue where some iPhone XS devices did not immediately charge when connected to a Lightning cable
  • Resolves an issue that could cause iPhone XS devices to rejoin a Wi-Fi network at 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz
  • Restores the original position of the “.?123″ key on the iPad keyboard
  • Fixes an issue where subtitles may not appear in some video apps
  • Addresses an issue where Bluetooth could become unavailable

Bug fixes and security updates are continuously fixed in software updates. The next significant update, iOS 12.1 is currently being tested in a developer and public beta. It brings a number of new features including FaceTime with up to 32 people at once.

To install today’s update simply tap Settings on your iPhone or iPad. Then navigate to General, then Software Update. If you have iOS 12 already installed there is now an option to have updates install automatically.
