First, it was Apple Broadway, then Apple Bondi, and now Apple Sydney will become the third Sydney store to be renovated. However, like Bondi, the Apple Sydney store will need to be temporarily closed completely during renovations.
Apple has confirmed on its website that the store will close starting from January 5th, 2020. And will remain closed for an unknown amount of time. If is anything like the Apple Bondi renovation the closure will last several months.
The reason for the closure is so the store can receive “creative updates”. Indicating the store will get the large Video Wall display for Today at Apple sessions. Other likely updates include the potential of a new ‘Genius’ area, accessory walls, and more.
Earlier in the year Apple closed Apple Bondi for several months and re-opened it with a new Video Wall display and two ‘living walls’. With over 3,000 living plants that are watered with a custom-designed irrigation system.
Apple Sydney was the first store Apple opened in Australia back in 2008. And remains the flagship store for Sydney, Australia. Its closure is significant given the sheer amount of traffic the store recieves. During its closure, Apple is suggesting customers visit Apple Broadway, Apple Bondi, or their nearest Apple Store.
